- The site uses analytics, session recording, and advertising services from other companies. They use cookies and similar technologies to measure visits and show ads.
- A partner may identify the business, and in some cases the person, visiting the site.
- You can limit tracking with your browser settings and industry opt-out tools. To ask about your data or the services we use, email Hello@BWdB.com.
About this policy
BWdB Inc. ("BWdB", "we", "our", or "us") provides advertising, marketing, and creative services. We run the website at bwdb.com (the "site").
We recognize the importance of data privacy and security. Privacy is a matter of trust. We are committed to managing personal data lawfully, fairly, and transparently.
This policy is for everyone whose personal data we handle. That includes site visitors, current and prospective clients, job seekers, employees, and other business partners ("you" or "your"). It explains the data we collect, how we collect, use, share, keep, and protect it, and the rights and choices you have.
This policy covers the site, our social media channels, other website content, the services we provide, and any other materials we provide. It also covers other services that link to or mention this policy, when we or our affiliates publish or provide them. In this policy, "services" means all of these, including the site.
You can find this policy at any time through the Privacy link at the foot of every page on the site.
Important
By visiting or using any of our services, you consent to the terms of this policy.
If you do not agree with this policy, do not visit or use the site or services, contact us, or give us personal data. We advise you to print or save a copy of this policy for future reference.
Our Terms of Use and any other terms we post on the site or send you also apply. Together with this policy, they form the agreement between you and us.
Personal data we collect
In this policy, "personal data" means information that can identify, distinguish, or trace you or a device you use, alone or combined with other information. It also includes any other information about you or your device that we receive.
The personal data we receive can include:
- your name, postal address, zip code, email address, and phone number;
- what you tell us in emails, calls, and meeting bookings;
- your IP address and the identifiers that cookies and similar technologies assign to your browser or device;
- details about your device and visit, such as your browser, operating system, internet service provider or mobile carrier, the pages you view, and when and how long you view them.
Some jurisdictions treat IP addresses and device identifiers as personal data, because they could identify a person or device when combined with other information.
Payment and sensitive data
If you buy services from us, we collect what we need to complete the transaction. This can include your name, email address, address, and payment information. We treat payment details, such as a credit, debit, or payment account number, as more sensitive than other personal data.
We generally do not ask for other highly sensitive data through the site. Examples are financial account information such as credit reports or bank account numbers, health information, and government identification numbers such as a Social Security, driver's license, or passport number. We collect sensitive data only when we need it to provide certain services to you. We also collect it if you offer contractor services to us, apply for a job with us, or receive a job offer from us.
Anonymous data
Some of the data we receive cannot identify you or your device, even combined with other information. Other data could identify you if combined with other information, but we use it only in an anonymous way. We often combine anonymous data with data about other visitors.
How we collect personal data
We collect only the personal data you give us voluntarily and, where the law requires it, with your consent. We collect it only for specified, explicit, and legitimate reasons: to provide our services to you and to meet our legal obligations. We limit it to the minimum we need to run our business.
We may collect personal data when you:
- email us at Hello@BWdB.com, call us, or write to us;
- book a meeting with us through the scheduling service on our meeting page;
- interact with our social media pages;
- visit the site, through log files, cookies, and similar technologies;
- buy services from us;
- attend an event we host; or
- apply for a job with us.
Log files
When you visit, our hosting provider receives data about each request, such as your IP address (or your proxy server's), browser type, and the page you ask for. We can review logs of these requests.
We use log data to keep the site running and secure, and to understand overall trends so we can improve it. We do not share log data with third parties other than our hosting provider, unless the law requires it.
Data we get from other sources
We may also get personal data about you outside the site. For example, we may buy it or otherwise get it from third-party data suppliers. We reserve the right to combine that data with the personal data we collect through the site.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include pixels, tags, scripts, and browser storage. The tools we use set both persistent cookies and session cookies. We use cookies and similar technologies for these purposes:
- Security. Our hosting and security provider may set cookies it needs to protect the site from harmful bots.
- Site features. The site stores your scroll position in your browser's session storage, so the Back button returns you to the same place. Your browser deletes it when you close the tab.
- Analytics. Analytics and session recording services measure how visitors use the site, so we can improve it.
- Advertising. Advertising partners, including social media platforms, measure our ads and help show our ads to people who visited the site.
- Visitor identification. A partner may identify the businesses, and in some cases the people, who visit.
- Embedded content. Video hosting and scheduling services may set their own cookies when their player or scheduler loads.
The site does not show a cookie banner or ask for cookie consent. The services described here load when you open a page.
In our marketing email
We may use pixel tags, clear GIFs, beacons, and similar technologies in marketing email to our clients and other stakeholders. They tell us what recipients do, such as how many open the message or click a link in it. We use this to measure the success of our marketing and to compile results about the use of our services.
Your choices about cookies
If you want to delete, limit, or refuse cookies, use the settings or help pages of your web browser. If you do, some features may not work, and some pages may not display properly. The services described below may offer their own opt-outs. How to opt out explains how to use them, including how to ask us which service does what.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are settings in some browsers and devices that ask sites not to track you. The site does not respond to either signal. Some of the services we use honor Do Not Track on their own.
Analytics, advertising, and visitor identification
The site loads services from other companies on every page. They collect data about your visit directly from your browser, under their own privacy policies. If you ask, we will tell you which companies provide them.
Analytics
We use analytics services to understand how visitors use the site. They record the pages visitors view, how far they scroll, and the links they follow off the site. They may also record which embedded videos they play. Our analytics service removes email addresses from the data it sends.
Analytics providers may use the data they collect to track and monitor the use of the site. They may also use it to personalize the ads in their own advertising networks, and share it with their other services.
Session recording
We use session analytics that record how visitors use the site. They make recordings of visits and heatmaps that show how visitors use our pages. The service does not record what you type by default.
Advertising
We work with advertising partners, including social media platforms. Their tags measure how well our ads work by recording actions visitors take on the site, such as viewing a page. They also let us show our ads to people who visited the site, which is known as interest-based advertising.
Visitor identification
A partner may identify the business and, in some cases, the person visiting, and give us that person's name, professional profile, and business email address. Person-level identification is limited to visitors in the United States.
The partner identifies people only when they are already in its own database. It identifies companies from their network address.
How to opt out
To delete or block cookies, use your browser and device settings. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising through your mobile device settings, or with one of these industry opt-out tools:
- Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out tool
- Network Advertising Initiative opt-out tool
- Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada
- European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance
If you want to opt out of a specific service, contact us, and we will tell you which service and how to opt out.
Embedded content and hosting
Some pages load content from other companies. Each receives your IP address and browser details when its content loads, and each has its own privacy policy.
- Scheduling. Our meeting pages use a scheduling service to book meetings. When you book, the name, email address, and other details you enter go to that service, which processes them for us.
- Video. Our films play in players from video hosting services. We ask our main video host not to track viewers, but it says some essential cookies still apply. One film in our Journal plays in a privacy-enhanced mode. In that mode, its host says a view does not personalize your experience or the ads you see elsewhere.
- Hosting, security, and content delivery. Hosting, security, and content-delivery providers serve the site and its images, and protect it from attacks and harmful bots.
How we use personal data
We may use your personal data for our legitimate business purposes. Mainly, we use it to communicate with you and to provide our services. For example, we may use it to:
- answer questions you send us;
- send you news and updates;
- send you invitations to events;
- send you surveys to improve our services;
- run our business processes;
- measure and improve the site and our advertising; and
- comply with our legal and contractual obligations.
If you apply for a job or contractor position with us, we may also use your personal data to process your application, run background checks, and check references. If we hire you, we may use it to pay you and, where they apply, to provide benefits.
How we share personal data
For the uses described in How we use personal data, we may share your personal data with third parties we hire to help provide our services. They include, but are not limited to, companies that provide:
- software support;
- a customer relationship management (CRM) platform;
- payment and fulfillment;
- website hosting;
- business resilience and disaster recovery;
- auditing platforms and accounting;
- legal advice and counsel;
- collection services;
- management consulting;
- mailing and logistics;
- email marketing;
- marketing research;
- social media channels;
- media partners; and
- product vendors.
The analytics, advertising, and embedded services described above also receive data directly from your browser.
Other times we share personal data
We may also share your personal data:
- as the law requires, or in response to a subpoena or other government request for information;
- if we believe disclosure is in the interest of your security or ours, including exchanging information with other companies and organizations to protect against fraud and reduce credit risk;
- if another company acquires us or merges with us; or
- if we go out of business, enter bankruptcy, or go through another change of control.
Aggregate data
We may share aggregate data that is not personal with strategic partners. When we do, we do not disclose information that can uniquely identify you.
Opting out of sharing
You have choices about how we share your personal data with third parties. In many cases, you opt out through a tool the third party provides, such as the ones listed on this page. To stop marketing email from us, use the unsubscribe link in the email.
To ask us to stop sharing your personal data with third parties, send your request using the details in Contact us. This may mean we need to delete your data.
How long we keep personal data
We may keep your personal data for at least as long as you do business with us, because we need it to provide our services and to run the site. We may also keep and use it as needed to comply with our legal obligations and policies, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
International data transfers
We operate in the United States. If you are outside the United States, we may transfer your personal data to the United States or elsewhere to provide our services or to communicate with you. We take measures to safeguard your personal data when we transfer it, and we aim to comply with applicable data privacy laws and regulations.
From the European Union or European Economic Area
When we transfer personal data from the European Union or European Economic Area (EU/EEA) to a country or international organization outside it, we rely on a legally permitted basis. Examples are your informed consent before the transfer, or standard contractual clauses with the clients whose personal data we transfer. Standard contractual clauses are pre-defined data protection terms added to contracts.
From Australia
If you are a citizen of Australia, we may transfer your personal data from Australia to the United States or elsewhere. We take measures to safeguard it when we do.
From China
If you are in China, the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) applies. PIPL applies to organizations inside and outside China that process the personal information of people in China, whatever their citizenship or permanent residence. It requires a lawful basis for processing and specific, informed consent.
We may transfer your personal data from China to the United States:
- to provide products or services to people in China;
- to assess or analyze the behavior of people in China; or
- for other purposes we will specify.
From other countries
If you are a citizen of a country or jurisdiction not named in this policy, we may transfer your personal data from there to the United States or other countries. We take measures to safeguard it when we do. Your use of our services, and your sending us your information, count as your consent to that transfer.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, the law may give you rights over your personal data.
- European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. You have data privacy rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and Virginia. If you are a resident of one of these states, you have data privacy rights under its laws.
- Australia. If you are a citizen of Australia, you have data privacy rights under the Australian Privacy Act.
- Brazil. If you are a citizen of Brazil, you have data privacy rights under Brazil's data protection law.
- Other places. If you are a citizen or resident of another country or jurisdiction with privacy laws, you may have data privacy rights under those laws. We are committed to honoring the privacy rights of people from those countries and jurisdictions.
To ask about your rights or to use them, contact us using the details in Contact us.
Children
The site and services are mainly for people who are at least 13 years old. People aged 13 to 17 must have the permission of a parent or guardian, and their direct supervision, to use the site. People under 13 may use the site or services only with the express electronic consent of a parent or guardian.
This policy governs data collection and use for users over the age of 13. If we learn that we collected personal data from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will take steps to remove it from our servers.
What you post on our social media pages
If you post content on our social media pages, you are responsible for it. Others can collect and use any personal data you share there, such as your username, email address, or phone number. This may lead to unwanted messages from other people.
How we protect personal data
We constantly work to keep our data security practices in line with industry-accepted standards for handling, sending, and storing personal data. We use administrative, physical, and technical measures to prevent unauthorized access, keep data accurate, and make sure it is used correctly. The site uses industry-accepted encryption (HTTPS) to reduce the risk that others can see information passing between the site and your browser.
The internet is not a completely secure environment, so we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you send us. We do not guarantee that information cannot be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed through a breach of our administrative, physical, or technical measures.
We do not knowingly use or permit malware, spyware, viruses, or similar software.
If there is a data breach
International, federal, and state laws may require us to notify our clients and/or affected people if personal data is breached. If that happens, we will promptly notify our clients and/or affected people. We will follow the notification procedures in our internal policies and the requirements of applicable law.
Links to other sites
The site links to and from sites that we do not operate. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. When you leave the site, read the privacy notice of each site that collects your personal data.
